1st Annual Business & Community Awards

It was a SOLD Out event at the 1st Annual Business & Community Awards Gala hosted by the Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, April 20th at the Holiday Inn Express, Deer Lake. This event never would have been possible without the support of the Town of Deer Lake, the Business Community and the Community at large. The support has been outstanding, for Awards Sponsors, Table Sponsors and donations of Silent Auction Items. The Gala committee (sub committee of the Board of Directors) have been working for several months to help make this prestigious inaugural event such a great success. Mr. Mark Baldwin from Dale Carnegie Newfoundland & Labrador was the Master of Ceremonies and encouraged those in attendance to get involved with the Chamber.

A call for nominations went out in January 2013 to all members of the Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce as well as to the general public via email, Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce and Town of Deer Lake websites, as well as through all associated Social Media accounts with the Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Deer Lake. It was decided that an independent judging committee would be chosen from outside of Deer Lake to review all submitted nominations, this would ensure complete fairness and unbiased decision making. The winners were chosen based on the nominations and submissions received.  Special thanks to the judges, Heather Davis, Executive Director from H.E.D.B, Phyllis Keats, Development Officer  from Humber CBDC and Tony Randell, Economic Development officer from the Department of Innovation, Business & Rural Development.
