The Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce is a vehicle for action through which business can work together for the overall good of the communities it serves. The Chamber is involved at all levels of government and your support helps the Chamber better lobby municipal, provincial and federal government. We seek solutions to todays social and economic problems and then work towards the implementation of these solutions.
The history of the Chamber dates back to 1965 when local merchants joined together to form the Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce. It wasn't until December, 1982 that the chamber was Federaly incorporated and Provincialy incorporated in November, 1990. Since that time the Chamber has dealt with many social and economic issues that have arisen over the years that have had a positive impact on businesses in the area.
The Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce currently has 174 members - 117 are in town with 59 from outside the area. The membership base is comprised of approximately 170 businesses, putting the membership-to-business ratio extremely high.
The Chamber hosts many annual events which include the following:
- Christmas Mingle and Jingle
- Junior Achievement Fundraiser Breakfast
- Tourism Conference
- Business Showcase
- Golf Tournament
- Networking dinners meetings

The objectives & responsibilites of the chamber include:
- To promote and improve trade and commerce and the economic, civic, and social welfare of the district.
- To assist business in areas of common concern and deal with the various departments of government in protecting the rights of the business community.
- To act as a forum for discussion and resolution of problems faced by its members.
- To gather and disseminate information useful to its members.
- To generally do any and all things deemed to be in the interest of its membership.
